Not just for farms: Tractor Supply remodels IM store, expands product lines
Business spotlight
IRON MOUNTAIN — Tractor Supply in Iron Mountain has been a source of farm supplies and other items in the community since 2006 and recently completed an extensive remodeling project.
The enhanced store features an improved layout for convenient and accessible shopping as well as a new customer service hub with upgraded digital tools to help customers find what they need.
“At Tractor Supply, we constantly work to improve the customer experience, from product offerings to in-store features,” company officials said in a news release.
“These exciting upgrades have completely transformed our store, making it an even better option for customers shopping for Life Out Here,” they added, referencing the company’s brand.
“We are excited for customers to visit our new space that now features more products than ever before, including our new apparel department, expanded feed and food selection and broader tool assortment. We know that customers will love these upgrades as much as we do, and we hope to share them with both familiar and new faces from the Iron Mountain community.”
The Iron Mountain Tractor Supply is one of over 2,200 stores nationwide. The first one opened in 1938 in Minot, North Dakota.
Manager Christine Dessellier said that Tractor Supply is a good fit for the Iron Mountain area because it’s not just for the farming community — there is something for everyone.
That includes clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor/trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, cleaning supplies, power tools, welding supplies, riding mowers and hardware. Tractor Supply even sells grilling, camping and RV supplies.
Some brand names offered include DeWalt, Milwaukee, Husqvarna and Toro.
Services offered include a trailer for rent, propane refilling and deliveries can be arranged through a third party. Tractor Supply is able to arrange for repairs of products its sells.
According to Anastasia Czappa, assistant manager, the Iron Mountain store employs 14 people and is looking to add more. Czappa noted that Tractor Supply is a great company to work for, offering a fun environment and the opportunity to earn bonuses and incentives.
Dessellier recently returned to work at Tractor Supply and took over the manager position. She said that finding more great employees is one of her biggest challenges and she really appreciates the staff she has.
“I have a great staff, I am so proud of them and I will take every chance I can to brag about them,” she said.
Dessellier said that her main concern as manager is to make sure the customer is happy and served well.
Customer service, in fact, is what sets Tractor Supply apart from the competition, said both Czappa and Dessellier.
“If a customer cannot find what they need, we go out of our way to make sure we find it for them, wherever it is,” Czappa said. “We have other nearby stores and we work together so if we are out of stock of something we can have it transferred here, we take care of our customers.”
Tractor Supply is located at 1860 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain and is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
