IM-K credit union sets meeting for March 18, seeks board candidates

KINGSFORD — The Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Federal Credit Union will have its 75th annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. March 18.

Members attending the meeting will be presented with reports by credit union officers and committees, with business items to be discussed.

The agenda also will include 2022 financial results, new business items and election of directors.

Members will elect four representatives to two-year terms on the board of directors. A three-member committee has been appointed to nominate the candidates: Larry Swartout, chair; Donna Peterson; and Carol LaFave. Any member wishing to have his or her name placed on the ballot can contact Swartout at 906-282-1150.

To qualify to be nominated for a director position, a candidate should have these attributes:

— leadership ability;

— general business experience;

— knowledge of financial matters;

— accounting or auditing experience;

— public relations experience;

— miscellaneous qualities, including experience in legal or regulatory; compliance, technology, marketing or sales, and human resources;

— must be able to be bonded and have a good credit history (a credit report will be obtained on each candidate);

— must be between age 18 and 75.

Potential candidates also must be a member of the credit union at least three months before the end of the fiscal year immediately preceding the annual meeting.

To avoid any conflict of interest, the candidate may not be related to or be in a relationship with any current credit union employee or officer that would violate the credit union’s conflict of interest and anti-fraternization policies. The candidate also may not be serving as a volunteer, officer and/or employee of other financial institutions.

Names must be placed before the committee by Feb. 4 to be on the ballot.

Starting at $2.99/week.
