Florence historical group to meet

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Olive Avenue.

Those planning to attend should note the time change. They will continue to meet at the church until the warmer weather permits.

The meeting will discuss summer events. With the museum opening Saturday, June 14, the exhibit honoring Vietnam veterans will be finalized. All veterans and their families will be invited to visit the new display to learn of three area men who participated in the conflict. A light lunch will be served to all attending.

Their annual Strawberry Social and Quilt Show will be Saturday, July 12. The group is always thankful for area quilters who are willing to share their projects. This year, the event would like to include an area of antique quilts.

During the season, the society has hosted two historic walking tours. Presently, members are working to update the booklet to go along with the walk. A raffle will take place throughout the season with various prizes, including, as always, a beautiful quilt. This raffle funds the projects and new exhibits done by the society.

Those able to help in any way are asked to call Karen Wertanen at 715-528-4744 or Debbie DeMuri at 715-528-3597.

Starting at $2.99/week.
