Emily Cummings to give presentation at Niagara library
NIAGARA, Wis. — The Friends of Niagara Public Library will have a presentation by Emily Cummings from the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Niagara Public Library, 1029 Roosevelt Road in Niagara.
Working as the local history/adult programming/programming coordinator for the Dickinson County Library has allowed Cummings to delve into area history in an exciting, fun and rewarding way.
When she learned there were local ties to a family that was onboard the RMS Titanic that had lived close to the house she grew up in on the East Side, she was intrigued.
Cummings sought to find out more about these people and why they were sailing across the Atlantic on this incredible “unsinkable” ship that went down on its maiden voyage in 1912 after hitting an iceberg.
Through research, she was able to connect to the tragedy in a much more personal way and wanted to share the stories of these families.
This talk is open to the public, and free to attend. Light refreshments will be served, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
