Cancer benefit for Steve Davis April 13

KINGSFORD — A cancer benefit for Steve Davis is planned from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Henry’s Steakhouse in Kingsford.

This will be a spaghetti and gnocchi meal, with donations provided by Borderland Meats and Dina Mia. Cost is $10 per person. There will also be 50-50 drawings and raffles at 3 p.m. Music will be provided from 2 to 4 p.m. by local musician Melanie Rose.

Davis was the head chef at Henry’s until recently. He was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of prostate cancer. Unfortunately at the time he fell ill, he had no insurance. His family and friends are asking the community to come and support him.

He is 68 years old and has four children. He came to the Upper Peninsula/northern Wisconsin area and fell in love with the surroundings, bought a house and relocated.

He has been a long-time chef — mainly out east, graduating from culinary school in 1978, His hobbies include collecting rocks, mushrooms and reading. He loves all sports, including the Packers, NY Rangers, Boston Red Sox and U-Conn. Huskies.
