Activities at Dickinson County Library and branches
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Library events for March include:
— Stress ReDUCKtion: Now through Tuesday, March 31, during regular hours at all library sites.
Rubber ducks will be hidden in certain areas of the libraries. If an adult or teen finds one, they can bring it up to the circulation desk and receive a small goodie bag of stress relief fun. They can keep the duck they find as well.
— All ages are welcome to enter the library’s 2025 Bookmark Contest. Entry forms are available at the circulation desks of all branches and must be returned by Wednesday, April 2. They will display entries at the Iron Mountain library for public voting from April 7 through April 13. In addition, entries will be posted to the library’s Facebook page that week; the entries with the most “likes” will get one extra vote. Winners will be chosen for each age group, and the winning bookmarks will be available at the library and in the Summer Reading registration bags. This year, winners will receive a small prize.
— Lego Club: 3:15 to 4 p.m. today at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township.
The program is open for kindergarten through eighth grade students and offers the opportunity to be creative while building with Legos. This month, Lego bases will be attached to the underside of tables, and participants will be challenged to build masterpieces upside down.
— The March Dickinson County Library board meeting will take place at 5 p.m. today at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. The public is always welcome to attend.

— Book Breakdowns — Lisa Dorvinen: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Meet Upper Peninsula children’s author Lisa Dorvinen at this program for kids to age 8 and their caregivers. From 4 to 5:30 p.m., attendees may purchase her books for signing, do a craft and take photos with a thematic photo opportunity. At 5:30 p.m., Dorvinen will read her book “My Whale of a Tale,” which follows the adventures of Harrison, a young boy with a vivid imagination.

At this interactive and creative workshop, kids ages 8 to 12 will explore the different languages of comics, from the eyes to body posture to the actual language within speech bubbles. After seeing how easy cartooning and creative expression can be, participants will generate a comic together out of the characters and creativity of the first half of the program. — The Graveyard Shift Book Club: 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
The book club is perfect for teens and adults that love to read true crime, horror, and/or supernatural elements. This month, discuss “Unspeakable Things” by Jess Lourey. Discussion kits are available at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

The playgroup is perfect for little hands to explore. Every month, they’ll have different stations designed to engage the child’s senses, such as tactile bins, sensory bottles, fine motor activities and early literacy activities. This is time for young children to discover and play at their own pace, though we do ask that an adult stays to supervise. While this event is ideal for ages 1 to 3, older siblings are welcome, too.
— Solomonson Branch Book Club: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
Adults are invited to discuss “From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home” by Tembi Locke. New members are always welcome to join book club.
