IMHS students selected for leadership conference at MSU

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School sophomores Charles Anderson, Emma Bouchard, Riley Couper, Kailey Jayne, Brayden Kassin, Philip Miziniak and Ella Theisen have been selected to attend Michigan Youth Leadership Conference this summer on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing.
The MYLead experience is not just another boring leadership conference. MYLead conferences are high-energy, three-day flagship programs with inspiring role models, personalized attention, interactive team building and incredible peers that combine to make an unforgettable experience.
At the conference, young leaders spend time exploring their unique leadership traits. Instead of providing a predefined set of attributes, MYLead creates space for participants to harness their strengths to be the best leader they can be.
Anderson is the son of Brad Anderson of Crystal Falls and Betsy Hartwig of Kingsford. During his time at Iron Mountain High School, he has participated in Varsity Club and student council and serves as the sophomore class treasurer. He also plays football, basketball and baseball. Anderson participates in all of these activities while maintaining a perfect 4.00 grade-point average.
Bouchard is the daughter of Jason and Kimberly Bouchard of Kingsford. She has been very active at IMHS, participating in Tri-Hi-Y, Varsity Club and serving on student council. Additionally, she plays volleyball, where she serves as captain, and runs track. Bouchard maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA while participating in all of these activities and is the recipient of the Presidential Award. Outside of school, she plays club volleyball with UP North Travel Volleyball.
Couper is the daughter of Rebecca Couper of Kingsford. She has been very involved at IMHS, participating in Youth Advisory Committee, Tri-Hi-Y and Key Club. She also plays volleyball and has been an honor roll recipient throughout high school.
Jayne is the daughter of Kevin and Krista Jayne of Iron Mountain. She participates in Tri-Hi-Y and the Youth Advisory Committee as well as playing basketball. She has maintained high honors throughout high school. Outside of school, she enjoys hunting and church youth group.
Kassin is the son of Russell and Joy Kassin of Iron Mountain. He has been extremely active at IMHS, where he has served on student council and is currently the sophomore class president. He is also a member of the Varsity Club, Youth Advisory Committee and Key Club. He has this active while maintaining high honors throughout high school. Additionally, he plays football, basketball and tennis. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing.
Miziniak is the son of Philip and Kaye Miziniak of Iron Mountain. He stays active participating in student council, Key Club and Varsity Club. He is also the board representative for Youth Advisory Committee. He plays soccer for IMHS and also enjoys playing for Northern Stars soccer outside of school.
Theisen is the daughter of Brent Theisen of Iron Mountain and Michele Carroll of Iron Mountain. She participates in Tri-Hi-Y and Key Club. Theisen also has played volleyball since middle school. She has maintained honor roll status throughout high school. Outside of school, she works at Henry’s Steakhouse and enjoys reading and painting.
