Bob Black named Mason of the Year

CRYSTAL FALLS — Bob Black has been named 2024 Mason of the Year by Crystal Falls-Iron River Masonic Lodge No. 385 Free and Accepted Masons, of Michigan, for his outstanding service and dedication to his craft.

As a member of Free Masonry for more than eight years, Black is currently the treasurer. He has served as junior deacon and on the Building and Grounds Committee. Black has been an active volunteer member of the community outside of his Masonry duties.

Black will be honored at a Toast & Roast Lunch that the public is invited to attend. It will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Iron County Historical Museum in Caspian.

Social and cocktail hour will be from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m., followed by an award presentation and the roasting of Black.

Music will be provided by Paul E. Sundquist to wind up the afternoon, with program expected to end by 4 p.m.

The Alpha Village Fourth of July Volunteer Committee will provide a full cash bar. The lunch will be catered by Main Street Cafe and Back Alley BBQ.

The cost of lunch is $30 per person. Reservations are requested. Those planning to attend should RSVP to Black at 906-367-4867 by Saturday, Jan. 18.

Black, his wife Tina and grandson, Tristan live in Crystal Falls Township. Black is the salesperson for WIKB 99.1 FM radio station. He is known as Buckskin Bob.
