Library events for November listed
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library has announced its activities and events for November.
They include:
— The Graveyard Shift Book Club: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
This new book club is perfect for teens and adults who love to read true crime, horror and/or books with supernatural elements. This month, discuss “One of Us is Lying” by Karen McManus. Discussion packets will be available at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. No registration is required.
— Bow Wows and Books: 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
Patrons of all ages and reading abilities can practice reading aloud to therapy dogs, Azul, a Siberian husky mix; and Belle, a Labrador retriever mix. Reading aloud to therapy dogs can boost a child’s confidence in reading. Required registration; call 906-563-8617 to sign up for a 15-minute time slot with either or both dogs.
— Christmas Crafts at the Felch Senior Center: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Felch Senior Center, W4243 M-69.
— Following the senior center’s community dinner, anyone ages five through adults can join the Dickinson County Library for craft making. No registration required.
— Just Doh It: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Join them for this playdough club that provides guided and independent activities such as letter formation, shape identification, and more for kids ages 3-5. Playing with playdough is a great activity to build fine motor skills and encourages children’s language and literacy, science, and math skills all at the same time. No registration required.
— Book Club-Solomonson Branch: 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Solomonson Branch.
Adults are invited to discuss the New York Times Best Seller, “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah. New members are always welcome.
— Holiday Soiree: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Patrons are invited to build edible holiday houses at their Holiday Soiree for all ages. Supplies will be provided for each person to build their own holiday house out of various food items. Refreshments will be provided, and participants can enter for raffle prizes. This program will be held after library hours, please arrive by 6:25 p.m. as the library doors will be locked at 6:30. Required registration; call 906-774-1218. Space is limited. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
— Gamers’ Club: 4 to 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25 at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain and 3:15 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the North Dickinson Branch.
Get your game on with a variety of video and board games at this program for kids in grades 3-8. No registration required.
— The Dickinson County Library Main and Solomonson Branches will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. All Dickinson County Library branches will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 in honor of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Regular hours at all branches will resume on Friday, Nov. 29.
