DICSA’s AmeriCorps plans Senior Giving Tree
IRON MOUNTAIN — This holiday season the Dickinson Iron Community Services Agency’s AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program will conduct its eighth-annual Senior Giving Tree.
Any senior citizen in the community can be nominated for the program and nominations can be anonymous. Nominations will start Wednesday. Space is limited.
To nominate a senior, contact Kathy Arnold or Kendra Trulock and provide the name, address, phone number and wish list of items the nominated person may need/want.
To adopt a senior, contact DISCA to be assigned a number that corresponds to a senior in need with their holiday wish list. There is a $20 to $30 suggested limit. Adoptions will begin Monday, Dec. 2.
For those who want to help out without adopting a senior, DISCA accepts donations of the items listed and will make a gift for those in need: dish soap/body wash/shampoo; toiletries; blankets; gloves and/or hats,; crossword/word search puzzles; chocolates/candies; coffee/hot chocolate; coffee cups; fuzzy socks; monetary donations. They will accept donations Monday, Dec. 2, to Thursday, Dec. 19. DICSA staff and AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program volunteers will deliver everything the week of Christmas.
Please drop off items at the DICSA office, 1238 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gifts should be labeled with the number assigned so DICSA can ensure it gets to the right senior.
