IRON MOUNTAIN — About 50 bricks were installed in October at the U.P. Veterans War Memorial on top of Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain.

All of the bricks currently at the memorial have been recorded in a book and the towers are numbered.

So those who want to know if someone has a brick at the memorial can have it looked up and be directed to the site where it is located.

The bricks are installed twice during the year — the first in May just before Memorial Day and again in October before Veterans Day.

The memorial and park is now closed for the winter, with the flag taken down after Veterans Day. Members, however, will raise the flag for ski tournament weekend in February.
