This week’s Back to the Present is a photo taken in the 1920s or early 1930s by E.S. “Andy” Anderson that shows the Williams’ Grocery Store, owned by John Williams. It was located on the corner of Woodward and Wilson avenues. On Sept. 1, 1925, a substation of the Iron Mountain Post Office was located in the store to serve residents of the Village of Kingsford.
The store eventually closed and the building housed several businesses over the years. It is now an apartment house. The original photo was taken from the book “Kingsford: The Town Ford Built in Dickinson County, Michigan.”
