WAM Fest on Saturday

WABENO, Wis. — Almost 40 crafters, vendors and area artists will be set up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wabeno Arts & Music Fest’s grounds and across the street from the bandshell in Wabeno.

In its eighth year, WAM Fest features live music and performances by local, area, regional and out-of-state musicians beginning at 11:30 a.m. through the evening headliner, Conscious Pilot, at 8 p.m.

A student art contest is new and will be in the Legion Hall beginning at 1 p.m. for viewing art from middle and high school students from Crandon, Goodman/Armstrong Creek, Laona and Wabeno in Wisconsin.

The top winners will be awarded original framed artwork from John Graff, an artist who has researched the life of fish of the Oconto River.

WAM Fest also features a wide variety of food items including gyros, “crack” chicken, fruit waffle, cream puff and other favorites. New this year there will be three top winners in the 50-50 raffle.

Area sponsors that make the day possible include Antique Power Association, Christian Thrift Store, Forest County Potawatomi Community, Laona State Bank, Smith Concrete, Trump Lake Protective Association, Wabeno American Legion Post 44, Wabeno Lions Club, Wabeno Public Library and Weber Hill & Packard Funeral Home.

WAM Fest is coordinated by the Friends of Wabeno, a local nonprofit group of volunteers who are working to help keep Wabeno economically strong and healthy through promotions and improvement projects.
