Environmental regulators honoring 6 organizations

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is honoring Ford Motor Co., Consumers Energy's J.R. Whiting Plant and four other state corporations or organizations for their environmental and social projects.

Department Director Dan Wyant is scheduled to give the Neighborhood Environmental Partners awards Tuesday at Ford's Dearborn headquarters. Others to be honored are AW Transmission Engineering USA Inc., ITC Holdings Corp., the U.S. Army Garrison-Detroit Arsenal and World Medical Relief Inc.

They are being recognized for numerous and varied efforts, including beach and river cleanups, recycling drives, habitat restoration projects and distribution of medical supplies to low-income people.
