LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A deputy state treasurer has been appointed acting executive director of Michigan's housing agency after the previous head resigned over seeking reimbursement for expensive meals and travel.
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority's board named Wayne Workman to the post Thursday, per state Treasurer Kevin Clinton's recommendation. Scott Woosley stepped down this month in response to a state Democratic Party public records request that showed he stayed in pricey hotels and expensed large dinner bills, even in the Lansing area.
Workman has been deputy treasurer for local government services since July 2013. A search for a permanent director will continue.
Chief Deputy State Treasurer Tom Saxton says board members take their responsibility for overseeing the fiduciary stability of the housing agency "very seriously."
