IRON MOUNTAIN - A Kingsford man accused of transporting women to a man's residence for the purposes of prostitution has been scheduled for a four-day jury trial later this year.
Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards said that 24-year-old Johnathan Vyvyan will go to trial from Nov. 10 through 13.
Vyvyan faces felony counts of human trafficking-obtain the labor of a minor by force, fraud, or coercion; human trafficking-recruiting a minor for child sexually abusive activity; prostitution-transporting a female; and failure to comply with the sex offender registration act.
If convicted on all counts, he could spend up to 64 years in prison.
The charges against Vyvyan stem from alleged incidents that occurred in August 2013 in Iron Mountain.
According to court testimony, Vyvyan is accused of placing an advertisement on the website Craigslist to find men who were interested in receiving massages from women. He allegedly told at least one man that extra services, including sexual contact, might be included with the massages.
Vyvyan was supposed to receive a cut of the money for each encounter he set up, according to testimony.
Two females who were familiar with Vyvyan, a 16-year-old girl and a 24-year-old woman, claimed that he brought them to a man's house in Iron Mountain on different occasions.
The girl testified that she only went with Vyvyan because he had told her that she would be earning money by cleaning the man's house. She eventually agreed to massage the man, but left when the man took off his underwear.
The woman testified that she agreed to massage the man, then began to have sexual contact with him when asked. She added that she soon stopped and proceeded with the massage.
Vyvyan allegedly waited in another room or outside the residence while the encounters were taking place.
During the investigation, authorities determined that Vyvyan, a registered sex offender, had failed to report an e-mail address used in connection with an active social media account.
