KINGSFORD - One person was injured in a structure fire Friday at the Diamondhead Apartments complex in Kingsford.
The fire started shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the complex, which is located at 679 South Westwood Avenue.
Two officers from the Kingsford Public Safety Department responded in a patrol unit and began evacuating the complex. Two other officers responded in the fire truck and quickly knocked the fire down.
Both units were on the scene within minutes.
Officers reported that the resident of the apartment where the fire originated was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Red Cross will be assisting residents of the complex who were displaced by the fire.
Officers said that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a state fire marshal has been called in for assistance. No names or any additional information are being released at this time, they added.
Assisting at the scene were the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Iron Mountain Fire Department, and Michigan State Police.
