NIAGARA, Wis. - Niagara Northern Stars U19 boys defeated host Appleton 3-1 to capture the Gold Division of the Summer Shootout soccer tournament.
The Stars downed Eagle River, 4-1, and Rhinelander, 5-0. in pool play. Water Cities bowed 2-1 in a semifinal.
Stars fell behind 1-0 early in the semifinals.

Nick Brule tied the game just before halftime with an assist from Billy Mullet. TJ Liebergen assisted Brule for his second goal midway through the second half to give the Stars the lead.
Sawyer Kujala scored the final Stars goal.
Northern Stars U14 boys finished their season at the Appleton tournament.
The Stars played "very well against some challenging opponents in the Blue (upper) Division," according to coach Greg Kulas.
Stars lost 1-0 to Howard in the first game. The only goal was scored on a rebound shot following a save by Stars keeper Ian Driscoll.
In another game, the Stars lost to eventual tournament runner-up Kimberly, 5-2. The Stars bounced back from a 3-0 halftime deficit with goals from Michael Kulas and Will McCormick early in the second half.
In the final game, the Stars lost to Marathon County 2-0.
