KINGSFORD - Kingsford High School's Emily Murdock, in a vote from opposing coaches, was one of 14 varsity softball players named to the all-district team in Division 2 District 33.
Murdock, who just completed her junior year, was selected at pitcher. In the circle, Murdock posted a 3.29 ERA, recording 66 strikeouts against 39 walks in 83 innings pitched.
At the plate, Murdock had 44 hits in 81 at-bats this season for an impressive .543 batting average. Her hits included 17 doubles, a triple and a home run, along with 21 RBIs.
Murdock, along with Janay Walters, was named the Flivvers' co-MVP this season. Kingsford won its first ever postseason game with a 3-1 victory over Petoskey in a district quarterfinal before bowing to Escanaba 7-1 in a semifinal.
With Murdock, Walters and no graduated seniors, the core of the Flivvers will return for next season.
