FLORENCE, Wis. - Growing your own vegetables can be an extremely tasty and nutritious hobby.
The University of Wisconsin-Extension of Marinette and Florence counties are offering a pair of beginner vegetable gardening workshops.
One workshop will be held at the Florence Natural Resources Center on Tuesday, April 22, starting at 6 p.m.
The discussion will focus on vegetable species and cultivar selection, proper planting, in-season plant management, and the key pests your plants may face over the course of the year.
The other workshop is being hosted by the Goodman Library, attached to Goodman High School, and will take place on Thursday, April 24, starting at 6 p.m.
This session will offer similar discussion to its Florence counterpart, but will also include site and soil selection and preparation.
There is no cost to attend either of these programs. UW-Extension publications related to vegetable management will also be available free to attendees.
Any questions about the program, vegetables, or other horticulture related issues may be directed to Scott Reuss of the Marinette County UW-Extension office at (715) 732-7510 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
