The Daily News

CRYSTAL FALLS - Voters in Iron County approved one millage renewal proposal in the election on Tuesday. There were no other proposals on the ballot.

The proposal is for 1.5 mills for a period of five years, 2015 through 2019, to provide funds for the West Iron District Library.

This millage is estimated to raise $398,752.58 in the first year of the levy.

Out of a total 391 votes, 340 votes were cast to approve the proposal. The majority of voters in each precinct supported the millage renewal.

The proposal was on the ballot in Iron River, Caspian, Gaastra, Bates Township, Iron River Township, and Stambaugh Township.

Michigan law requires full disclosure of where revenue from the millage will be disbursed.
