Firefighters respond to a garage fire on Miller Road in Homestead, Wis. on Thursday. Multiple departments responded to the blaze.

The fire started at about 10:20 a.m. in the upper portion of a two-story, 44-foot by 80-foot detached garage at 2547 Miller Road. The owner of the property is Richard Yadro.

There were no injuries. An estimate of loss is not available at this time.

According to the Homestead Fire Department, the fire may have been started by electrical wires connected to a heater, but a definite cause for the blaze has not yet been determined.

The Homestead and Aurora departments, along with the Aurora Rescue Squad, were initially dispatched. Upon arrival at the scene firefighters found a fully involved structure fire and requested mutual aid for water supply and additional staff from the Fence, Florence, and Breitung Township fire departments. WE Energies was also at the scene.

The fire caused considerable damage to the garage. The building was insulated with cellulose insulation which continued to smolder. A track-hoe excavator was brought in by the Florence Utilities Department to extinguish the cellulose insulation and remove debris.

At 11:28 p.m. on Thursday night the Homestead Fire Department returned to the location as the fire had rekindled. The flare-up was extinguished and firefighters were clear from the scene at 12:21 a.m.

Kevin Olsen, the Homestead Fire Chief, and the Florence County Sheriff's Office thanked all responding units for their assistance in putting out the fire.
