ONTONAGON - Louie Goldbach outraced his Iron River teammate Chris Nordang and Lake Linden's Jerry Buschell to win the "Top Gun" feature at the Ontonagon County Economic Partnership U.P. Championship Snow Drags.
Goldbach also captured the Pro Mod 800 feature in the season-opening event of the Mid America Snow and Terrain Expert Racers Series (MASTERS).
Goldbach and Nordang's professional modified snowmobiles are sponsored by the Iron County Sheriff's Department DARE program.
Iron River's Nordang claimed the 2013 MASTERS season title.
Goldbach's four-year-old daughter, Emma, was a "champion" in the 120 cc class.
The next MASTERS race will take place in Sagola, with the snow drags part of the popular "Tip Up Town" on Saturday, Feb 1.
The first snowmobile hillclimb of the series will be the Mid America Championship Hillclimb (MACH) in Caspian Saturday, Feb 15.
The MACH will be a part of the Caspian Snowmobile Weekend, which will conclude with uphill snow drags on Sunday, Feb. 16.
The MASTERS is an 11- event schedule that includes a snowmobile hillclimb at Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain.
The MASTERS will also sanction the Wisconsin State Championship Hillclimb at Keyes Peak in Florence on March 15, then the Keyes Peak Hillcross on March 16.
