WATERSMEET - Forest Park wrapped up the December schedule with a 6-0 mark, clipping Watersmeet 19-6 in the first quarter en route to a 61-28 non-conference girls basketball victory.

Lexi Gussert collected 27 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and four assists. Maria Stankewicz chipped in 10 points and Sam Nylund had eight points with nine rebounds.

"Lexi had her typical game and Sam Nylund did a great job on the boards," Forest Park Coach Jeff Syrjanen said.

The Lady Trojans pulled down 41 rebounds compared to 14 for the smaller Nimrods.

"They're not big but they have good athletes that can break a press and run the floor," Syrjanen said. "They run a slow-paced offense. They frustrated us a little. We like to get up and go."

Frannie Zelinski's 20 points led the Nimrods.

Forest Park's Rachel Roose and Kaitlyn Bradley registered two steals apiece and Kendra Campbell had two assists.

Forest Park visits West Iron County Friday, Jan. 3.
