Jeanette Miller

GLADSTONE - Jeanette Frances "Nette" Miller, 96, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.

She was born April 26, 1917, in Gladstone, daughter of the late Bradford and Myrtle (Titsworth) Sword. Nette was raised in Faithorn, graduated from Vulcan High School and went on to earn a certificate in cosmetology in Minnesota.

She married Willard T. Miller, her high school sweetheart, on June 11, 1938, in Escanaba and together they raised their four daughters. She was a longtime and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. There she served as an elder, deacon, choir member and was known for her accompaniment in the music ministry.

Nette was a member of Chapter CX PEO, the Kiwanis Golden K, the Iron Mountain Music Club, was the President and Director of the EMBA Auxiliary and was also recognized for her contributions to the community as First Lady of Dickinson County in 1981.

She is survived by her four daughters, Sandy (Maury) Fisher of Georgia, Sharon (Paul) Elliott of Niagara, Wis., Sally (Charlie) Weitschat of Arizona and Sue Flegel of Traverse City; a sister, Jill Duvall of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Mike Buttram, Laura (Bob) Brabec, Stephen (Traci) Elliott, Brian (Carey) Elliott, Tom Fleury Jr., Brad (Sara) Fleury, Jessica Flegel and Audrey Flegel; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard T. Miller in 2011; and by four brothers, Benjamin, Clifford, Orris and James Sword.

Honoring the wishes of Jeanette Miller, the family will celebrate her life with a private family service at the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Michael March will officiate.

Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Music Ministry at 395 Hamilton Ave. Kingsford, MI 49802.
