Former Iron Mountain athlete part of record-setting team

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. Jenna Oberthaler of Iron Mountain was part of a record-setting season for the Lakeland College women's tennis team.

Oberthaler, a senior, finished 9-4 overall in singles play and 9-4 in doubles for the season.

The Muskies were well-represented in honors after posting one of the best seasons in school history. Lakeland finished 11-2 overall and 9-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, tying for second in the conference.

The program set a school record for wins in a season and the enjoyed it best-ever finish in the NACC.

At Lakeland, Oberthaler played for third-year coach Casey Carr, who was named the NACC Coach of the Year for his quick program turnaround. Lakeland was 1-10 overall in the 2010 season and finished 3-8 in 2011.

The Muskies qualified for the conference tournament and will be the second seed in the tourney, which will take place in the spring. Lakeland received a first-round bye to the semifinals in the six-team tourney.
