As all of you know by now, the Quinnesec/Lake Antoine Road in Iron Mountain is not being opened for truck traffic. This road is not being finished this year due to a conflict between MDOT and the contractor. Apparently there is an issue with the mix design.
I have recently contacted the Dickinson County Road Commission and found out that they have been doing everything possible to get the conflict resolved.
So, let's get some public and trucking industry support and contact Representative Ed McBroom and Senator Tom Casperson to put pressure on MDOT in Lansing. Let's get that road opened up as soon as possible. The large amount of unnecessary truck traffic through downtown Iron Mountain is not only dangerous to pedestrians, students walking to school and the general downtown public but it also puts undue stress upon the streets. We have a lot of log trucks going through town when they could be using the Lake Antoine Road to get to the mills or their destinations.
