IRON MOUNTAIN - John "Jack" Weber, 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Raymond and Patricia (Hayes) Weber. Jack was a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1950 graduate of Kingsford High School. In 1952 he married Muriel Becking at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Shortly after his marriage, Jack joined the Navy and spent from 1952-56 serving his country during the Korean war. Jack was very proud of the time he spent serving his country. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned home and went to work at the Hanna Mine. When the mine closed, Jack worked for Smith Metal Structures for a time and retired from the Dickinson County Road Commission in 1994.

He and Muriel attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. Jack always watched over his "little" brother Jim, who was very special to him. Jack loved life and lived it to its fullest. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt and spend time at the family camp. His favorite time of the year was deer hunting season. Jack also enjoyed snowmobiling, watching his Green Bay Packers and trips to Las Vegas. The light of Jack's life was his wife, Muriel. He also had a special bond with his daughter Jodi, son-in-law Dean, and grandson "Brad boy."
