FLORENCE, Wis. - Florence took control of second place in the Northern Lakes Conference volleyball standings Thursday.

"What a great tri with three very evenly matched teams," Florence Coach Trudy Rochon said. "The Lady Cats played extremely well after a slow start in the first set with Three Lakes."

Rochon applauded the "amazing and very spirited" crowd for all three schools.

"It was a tournament atmosphere at its best," Rochon said. "We had some amazing hits and played good defense against some very nice hitting teams."

Emma Baumgart (35 spike kills), Aly Young (23 kills and 27 assists) and Kristen Schroeder (8 aces) led Florence.

Florence (10-2 NLC) completes league play Tuesday at Crandon. Goodman-Pembine (18-4 overall, 11-3 NLC), with the regular season over, swept Three Lakes 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-23).

Niagara 3, Crivitz 0

CRIVITZ, Wis. - Brooklyn Wolosyn recorded nine kills and six ace serves as Niagara clipped Crivitz 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) in M&O Conference volleyball Thursday.

The Lady Badgers trailed 19-13 in the first set before Wolosyn keyed a rally from the serving line to bring Niagara back.

"She went on a run of serves and got us back in it," Niagara coach Carol St. Arnauld said. "That was pretty much the turning point of the match. It went downhill from there for Crivitz."

"After our slow start, we did some really good things," St. Arnauld said. "We were strong at net. We hit the ball well, and we passed well."
