MARQUETTE - Charges are pending in an off-road vehicle mishap in which three people, including two young children, escaped serious injury, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. (Eastern time) Saturday on Silver Creek Drive in Sands Township.

A 38-year-old man was driving a Yardsport side-by-side with a 4-year-old and 6-year-old passenger when he made a sharp U-turn, lost control and rolled the ORV on his side, deputies said. The driver sustained a broken wrist and the passengers were uninjured.

Neither the driver nor passengers were wearing seatbelts or helmets.

Deputies were assisted by Chocolay Township Police, Marquette General EMS and Sands Township Fire.
