Harry D. Lucas

MARINETTE, Wis. - Harry D. Lucas, 83 of Wallace, formerly of Iron Mountain, was called home to God on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.

He was born on April 2, 1930, in Escanaba, son of the late Sidney and Johanna (Broeders) Lucas. He graduated from Felch High School. Harry married Janet L. Weber at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aurora, Wis., in 1953. Harry then enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on May 13, 1955.

Harry owned and operated many businesses through the years, including H. Lucas Powerline Construction Company, Lucas Cycle City, and Briar Mountain Ski Resort. He worked on and developed many land projects, including the Little Bear Golf Course. He and his family lived in a few communities over the years. They belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Foster City, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Menominee, and St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford.

Harry loved life, Jesus and family. He was a "people person." He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, snowmobiling and other sports, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet L. Lucas in 2010; his parents; eight brothers; and his son-in-law, Rodney Carlson.

Harry is survived by his children, Debra (Rodney) Carlson of Foster City, Dianne Lucas of Iron Mountain, David Lucas of Iron Mountain, Doreen (Brian) Miller of Fairview, Texas, and Denise (Tom) Davidson of Manitowoc, Wis.; grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) Nylund, Rodney (Madge) Carlson Jr., Lucas Carlson, Kendelle Lucas, David (Melissa) Lucas Jr., Amanda Lucas, Callie Miller, Collin Miller, Mario Alessandrini, Matthew Alessandrini, and Mitchell Davidson; great-grandchildren, Harley Jo, Mike Nylund III, Chase, Andi, Evan, Deanna, Janessa, and Wyatt; sister, Greta (Gerald) Sinskey of O'Fallon Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery. The Felch-Breen V.F.W. Post 4803 will accord full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
