First prep grid poll released

NEGAUNEE - Forest Park and North Dickinson lead the high school football season's first "Little Five" poll from the U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Forest Park earned three first-place ballots and 23 poll points from the five-member panel while North Dickinson garnered two and 22. North Central was third with 13 points.

In the "Big Five" poll, Menominee edged Ishpeming for the top spot while Kingsford placed third.

Poll results follow (first-place votes in parentheses):

BIG FIVE

1. Menominee, (3), 3-0 record; 23 poll points; 2. Ishpeming, (2), 3-0, 20; 3. Kingsford, 3-0, 14; 4. Marquette, 3-0, 12; 5. Negaunee, 3-0, 6.

LITTLE FIVE

1. Forest Park (3), 3-0, 23; 2. North Dickinson (2), 3-0, 22; 3. North Central 3-0, 13; 4. Gogebic 3-0, 10; 5. St. Ignace 2-1, 5. Others: Pickford 2-1, 2.

EIGHT MAN
