Ruth LaHaie Cavalieri

IRON MOUNTAIN - Ruth LaHaie Cavalieri, 95, formerly of 411 East Smith St., Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Victorian Pines Estates, where she had been a resident since February 2009.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1918 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Arthur and Esther (Formolo) LaHaie. Ruth was a lifelong resident and was educated in the Iron Mountain Schools.

Ruth married Louis "Lavady" Cavalieri on Sept. 21, 1935. They celebrated almost 47 years together. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis LaHaie; two sisters, Marjorie (Donald) Baldrica and Eloise (Frank) Germic; and a nephew, Donald Baldrica.

She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.

Ruth, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, is survived by a daughter, Arlene (Thomas Bernard) Sullivan of Iron Mountain; a son, Francis Raymond Cavalieri of Iron Mountain; grandson, Mark Raymond Cavalieri of Iron Mountain; granddaughter, Mitzi Marie Cavalieri (Alan) Kent of Holt, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Alexander Robert Winquist, Megan Taylor Winquist, Allison Kent and Austin Kent, all of Holt; dear sisters-in-law, Rose LaHaie of Billings, Mont., and Marcella "Bella" Matack of St. Helena, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, including Geraldine (David) Mindok and Dr. Patricia (Paul Mish) LaHaie.

Visitation will be Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Ruth's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, along with good friend Robert "Buzzy" Olivanti.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mahadev, OSF Hospice Care, and the compassionate staff at Victorian Pines Estates.
