FLORENCE, Wis. - The Florence School Board approved changes to insurance which could mean a savings of about $200,000 to the district.
The board approved a quote from WCA Group Health Trust with net savings between $153,736.20 to $211,486.20 for the Health Reimbursement Accounts, according to information presented by Edie Teichert, business manager.
If district employees deposit 12.6 percent a year, the savings for employees would be about $589 for a family plan, and $244 for a single plan, per year.
Health Reimbursement Accounts or Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) are Internal Revenue Service sanctioned employer-funded, tax advantaged employer health benefit plans that reimburse employees for out of pocket medical expenses and individual health insurance premiums.
In other business, the board:
- Approved a change in the employee handbook which will allow for a $100 per semester credit reimbursement for undergraduate classes where no graduate level is offered, but is to the benefit of the district. An example would be for driver's training. The district allows for a $100 per semester credit reimbursement for graduate level classes. The situation would have to be approved by the district.
- Approved a leave of absence for maternity leave for Erin Martin.
- Approved the resignations of Angela Greis, Kassondra Evans and Alexandra Kimball.
- Appoved use of the softball field for the annual tavern league softball tournament and for a girl's softball tournament.
