Ironwood's Nancy Osier-Ontonagon's Cathy Shamion wound up third at 151, opening with an 80 for the best ball round Monday and coming back Tuesday with a tourney-low 71.

Sault Ste. Marie's Joan Smith-Sandy Glibota (86-72) and Norway's Lisa Dionne-Iron Mountain's Becky Cecconi (81-77), who won the 2012 title with Karen Plaisier, shared fourth at 158.

Jodi LaVarnway of Pine Grove recorded a hole-in-one on No. 8. Her other ace came several years ago in this same tournament, regarded as the premier women's best ball-scramble competition.

Veteran Pine Grove golfers Alice Tuomela-Rochelle Wittkopf carded a 165 (84-81), capturing first flight by one stroke over three other teams.

In a change from past tournaments, golfers were flighted and final results known after both rounds were played. Normally, golfers are flighted after the first round of a two-round tournament.
