NEGAUNEE - The Marquette County woman who was shot by a Michigan State Police trooper on Thursday has been identified.
Lori Lee Lee, 50, died of a single, fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Troopers from the Negaunee post of the Michigan State Police said that an autopsy performed Friday at Marquette General Hospital confirmed the cause of death.
The incident occurred at about 6:05 p.m. Thursday on County Road FS in Humboldt Township.
Troopers and other officials were dispatched to Lee's residence in response to a 911 call from Lee reporting a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, they were confronted by Lee outside the residence.
Lee was armed with a rifle and pointed it at them, said troopers.
Troopers said that when Lee refused to obey commands to drop the rifle, one of the troopers fired his weapon and struck her.
The officers involved in the incident were a trooper with 17 years on the force and a Marquette County Sheriff's Department deputy with five years on the force. Both officers have been placed on administrative leave, in accordance with policy, pending the conclusion of the investigation.
