VICKSBURG, Mich. (AP) — About 241,000 homes and businesses have lost power and a firefighter has been injured as severe storms knocked down trees and power lines across parts of Michigan.
Utilities said late Tuesday that about 136,000 customers remained blacked out as restoration efforts continued.
DTE Energy Co. says about 140,000 of its customers lost power, and about 58,000 were still out Tuesday night.
CMS Energy Corp says about 47,000 of the 70,000 affected customers were off line.
And Indiana Michigan Power says about 31,000 of its 37,000 affected Michigan customers were off line Tuesday night.
The Kalamazoo County village of Vicksburg was hard-hit, and Calhoun County officials report widespread tree damage.
WOOD-TV reports that an Emmett Township firefighter was in stable condition after being struck by a falling tree while assisting others.
