Detroit mad for USA as Yanks face Belgium at Cup

DETROIT (AP) — Hundreds of soccer-mad and red, white and blue-clad fans have packed Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit to watch the game against Belgium.

The U.S. team took the game into overtime before losing Tuesday to Belgium 2-1 and exiting the World Cup in Brazil.

The game was shown on two oversized screens, but it felt nothing like watching in a living room or man cave

The viewing area is surrounded by food trucks and merchandise tents, and life-size cardboard cutouts of U.S. captain Clint Dempsey were strategically placed for photo ops.

Attendees are wearing red, white and blue-colored shirts, shorts, socks, hats, bandanas. Some have brought flags to wave.

Other have been wearing flags like capes.
