Kingsford stomps Wykons, 83-43

Michaud’s 17 leads five Flivvers in double digits

KINGSFORD - Kingsford, with five players scoring in double figures, thumped West Iron County 83-43 in non-conference boys basketball Tuesday.

Cole Michaud led the Flivvers with 17 points, followed by 16 each from Caleb Harrington, Aidan Wienke and jayvee call-up Daniel Harrington. Gabe Swanson tacked on 10.

The Flivvers, who nailed nine triples, held a 36-22 halftime lead and took charge in the third quarter with a 24-9 run. Wienke and Michaud combined for 17 third-quarter points.

"Defensively, we really played well," Flivver coach Dan Olkkonen. "West Iron tried different things defensively but we were poised and able to score."

Andy Ridolphi rimmed 11 for Coach Dan Schive's Wykons.

On Friday, Kingsford (9-3) entertains Gladstone and West Iron County (8-5) hosts Calumet.

Kingsford defeated West Iron County in the junior varsity game.
