On Dec. 21, the Wall Street Journal had an article entitled "Pork for Christmas." They stated "Only Congress could do something like this." They were referring to the "Sandy" bill, a $60.4 billion emergency spending bill, largely out of public view, to provide relief to the victims of superstorm Sandy. Trouble is the "Sandy" bill is laden with billions of dollars of spending stowaways wholly unrelated to the hurricane.
There's $150 million in there for Alaskan fisheries. Marine projects from New England to Mississippi also made the cut. Also along for the joyride is $8 million for new cars and other equipment for the Justice Department and Homeland Security, $2 million for roof repair at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., $4 million for the Kennedy Space Center, $3 million for oil-spill research and $348 million for the National Park Service. They didn't forget Amtrak who gets $188 million for two new train tunnels in New York unrelated to Sandy. Amtrak already got $1.4 billion last year. And of course some $600 million is directed to the EPA to support climate change adaptation. Dysfunctional is the word for this Congress. They all need a career change.
Our government is always in a financial quandary they alone create because of mismanagement. They are failing america. Can you imagine what would happen to a major corporation in the U.S. like G.E. or AT&T if Obama, Biden, and Congress called the shots.
Total disaster and near term bankruptcy. This crowd can't even agree on how to continue to waste the taxpayers' money.
Obama won but America lost. He keeps saying he is cutting spending even as spending and deficits keep going up and up. Just another Obama head-fake.
Romney lost because he said he wanted to put America back to work. The Obama entitlement community doesn't want to work. Obamanomics is the problem, not the solution.
He is going to kamikaze the economy and blame somebody else when he fails. Trusting this administration is a reach.
If you are a leaner, taking more from America than you earned, then Obama is your man. He's the entitlement king.
His tax, spend and waste economic legacy is to continue to grow government. Former president Reagan was the opposite, stating that for a strong, growing America government should get out of the way. He wasn't phony and made us proud to be Americans.
On Nov. 5, 2009 U.S. Army Major Nadal Hasan, an army psychiatrist at Fort Hood in Texas, walked into the Soldier Readiness Center of the base and opened fire on his fellow soldiers. 13 died and nearly 30 more were injured. The attack stopped after Hasan himself was shot and paralyzed. This attack was the worst shooting on an American military base.
In spite of this, Attorney General Eric Holder declined to press terrorism charges against Hasan. Mr. Holder is another jewel in Mr. Obama's administration.
The government has labeled the shooting as a case of "workplace violence."
The designation has prevented survivors and the victim's families from receiving Purple Hearts and being able to obtain combat-related special compensation.
Survivors and their family are forced to watch while Hasan continues to receive a paycheck and medical benefits from the military.
Over three years later, Hasan still has not be court martialed for the shooting. Under military law an individual is not allowed to plead guilty in any case involving the death penalty.
He has said he can't wait to join his buddy the radical American-born cleric Anwar-al-Awlaki in Paradise. The sooner the better.
