Robert Elliott

FLORENCE - Robert A. "Bob" Elliott, 84, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Bob was born July 7, 1928, in Kingsford, son of the late Arthur and Leona (Poisson) Elliott. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1947.

Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for four years during the Korean War. Upon returning to the states, Bob moved to Milwaukee where he married Evelyn Cychosz on Nov. 24, 1952. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Bob was a superintendent at Harnischfeger in Milwaukee for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He was president of the Catholic Youth Organization and the Holy Name Society at St. John the Evangelist Church in Milwaukee.

He moved back to this area in 1999 and has been a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford since that time. Bob loved sports, coaching little league and was an avid Packer fan. He enjoyed hunting, dancing and watching old westerns.

He is survived by three sons, Neal (Carol) Elliott of New Berlin, Wis., Mike (Lisa) Elliott of Hartland, Wis., and Robert "Rob" (Traci) Elliott of Wauwatosa, Wis.; a daughter, Vicki (Kevin) McGiverin of Sussex, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Kaye Bricker of Kingsford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Elliott; a brother, Francis "Butch" Elliott; four sisters, Mae Baker, LaVerne Swanson, Audrey Heinkel and Joyce Baker; and his guardians, aunt Ceil and uncle Homer Elliott.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.

Bob's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his friends in the Iron Mountain area for their help and assistance which made his life here much easier.
