KINGSFORD - LaVere A. Williams, 92, of East Kingsford died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1920, in Neenah, Wis., the son of the late LaVere and Anna Williams.
LaVere graduated from Iron Mountain High School. He served a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Cairo. LaVere was a car salesman. He was an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where he had been an elder and past president of the church council.
LaVere enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at Camp Summons. He took an annual fishing trip to Cowie Lake in Canada with his friends. He also enjoyed gardening.
He married Gladys "Mickey" Williams. She preceded him in death in 1995.
LaVere is survived by one son, Robert "Boe" Williams of East Kingsford; one daughter, Shirley Larson of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Valerie Davis, Victoria Williams, Nicholas Riel, Kelly Miles, Wayne Brennan, Robin Anderson, LeeAnn Brennan, Shannon Nanninga, Michael Holmes, Rebecca Monroe, Randy Gardiepy, and Tammy Gardiepy, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert D. Williams; a son, Byron Holmes; and two daughters, Mary Gardiepy and Sharon Barker.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Rev. Steven Lehmann will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery in Neenah.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
