Willie Mae Stenfors

IRON MOUNTAIN - Willie Mae Stenfors, 80, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan.13, 1932 in Rison, Ark., daughter of the late Elbert and Rachel (Reed) Anderson.

She attended Woodlawn Elementary and High School in Arkansas and was actively involved in women's basketball during high school.

Willie Mae married Roy V. Stenfors on Dec. 15, 1951, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2006. Willie Mae worked as a waitress for many years at different local restaurants.

She attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Kingsford. Willie Mae was very active in community schools volleyball and swim aerobics at the community center. She enjoyed country, classical and gospel music, cooking and reading. She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Stenfors-Magnuson of Iron Mountain; a brother, James (Rachel) Anderson of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a sister, Josephine (Bernard) Raymond of Iron Mountain; sisters-in-law, Bertha Carlson of Iron Mountain and JoAnne Stenfors of Foster City; brothers-in-law, Albert (Dorothy) Stenfors of Iron Mountain and Robert (Judy) Stenfors of Spooner, Wis.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, Willie Mae was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Jennie B. Anderson; a sister, Eva Walker; and a brother, Jewel Anderson.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow Saturday at noon at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery in the spring.
