Third-quarter rally lifts Badgers

NIAGARA, Wis. - Niagara rolled past Crivitz 22-2 in the third quarter and posted a 65-34 M&O Conference boys basketball victory Monday.

Crivitz held a 23-21 halftime lead.

"We took control of the game in the third quarter with great defense," Badgers coach Jim Hoogland said. "Our full-court pressure defense was the difference maker.

"The guys worked hard and I'm happy for them."

The Badgers accounted for 44 points in the second half as the Wolverines managed 11.

Jordan Zawada's 23 points and 11 rebounds ignited the Badgers. Hoogland also cited Colin Anderson for 10 rebounds, "fine leadership and directing traffic."

"He did a nice job," Hoogland said.

Niagara (2-3 overall, 2-2 M&O) takes on Goodman-Pembine in Pembine on Thursday.

Adam Parent's 25 points lifted Niagara's junior varsity over Crivitz 51-45.
