METROPOLITAN - Lyda V. "Deeny" Leonard, 88, of Felch, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1924, in Metropolitan, the daughter of the late William and Marie (Anderson) Nelson.

Deeny graduated from Felch High School in 1942. She was a lifelong resident of the Felch area and a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its ladies aid.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, embroidering, sewing, gardening, and her flowers.

She married Sigfred Sundholm in 1943 in Iron Mountain and he preceded her in death in 1961.

In 1963, she married Roy Leonard in Norway. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Lyda is survived by sons, Sigfred (Sharon) Sundholm of Elgin, Ill. and David (Susan) Sundholm of Mineola, Texas; daughters Rita (Greg) Johnson of Vulcan, Hope (Wayne) Whitaker of San Antonio, Texas, Virginia (Bill) Carney of Aldie, Va.; Nelda (Al) Iacono of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Rebecca (Gary) Leonard-Tardiff of Peshtigo, Wis.; 20 grandchildren Jill, Lisa, Kristine, Paul, Matthew, Andrew, Steven, Sara, Melinda, Forrest, Margaret, Kevin, Michael, Jennifer, Jason, Carrie, Mark, Robert, David, and Patrick, and 26 great grandchildren. She also had several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jennifer.

Visitation will be Monday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Tuesday at the church. Rev. Joel Smeby will officiate.

Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
