ANN WITTE

Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and excelled in making afghans for family members, friends and babies at the local Grand Rapids hospitals.

Ann was a wonderful cook. Her specialties were making raviolis, pizzelles, gnocchi, and pasties. She liked to read and enjoyed growing African Violets in her sun room.

Her first concern was always her family. She was selfless; always thinking of others needs before her own, non-judgmental; always willing to listen and give support, proud of her family and their accomplishments, gave unconditional love to family and friends, she was thoughtful; always remembering birthdays and anniversaries, she taught her family to be loving, giving and close, she was always there for them to help ease their burdens of life on Earth, she was caring; holding her great-grandchildren and reading to them up to the end of her Earthly life.

She will be remembered by all, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as patient, understanding, thoughtful, polite, loving, kind, caring and compassionate. She will be especially remembered by her granddaughter Mandy, not only as her grandmother but as her "best friend" on Earth. She will be greatly missed by all.

Ann is survived by two sons, Larry (Joanne) Witte of Stanwood and Doug (Debbie) Witte of Stanwood; eight grandchildren, Laura (Mark) Carman, Loren (Melissa) Witte, Mandy (Dave) Burdinie, Nick (Connie) Witte, Karen (Gordon) Wenk, Janice Grundy, Bill (Barb) Clock, and Chip Swieringa; 13 great-grandchildren, Owen, Morgen, Olivia, Rebecca, Nathan, Eliana, Evangeline, Ian, Erin, Jim, Caitlyn, Hayley, and J.R.; two sisters-in-law, Janet Shaw of Connecticut, and Alice Antinori of Wyoming, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special friends, Janice and Chuck Moore, Lis and Terri Grooters, Deb Preapo, Warren and Jane Tanner, and "Sam" the cat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wheeler J. Witte in 1998; a brother, Ernest Antinori; two sisters, Mary (Nick) Famiani and Lorraine (Lenard) Granquist; her parents; and a great-granddaughter, Katherine Grundy.

The family wants to greatly thank Hospice of Michigan and the many wonderful people there whom so caringly helped them through these rough times.

A memorial service is being planned for late spring.

Memorial contributions in Ann's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Perry Street, Big Rapids, MI 49307.
