PEMBINE, Wis. - Goodman-Pembine, led by Brennan Pierquet's 15 points and nine rebounds, rallied past Crivitz 43-40 in a non-conference boys basketball game Thursday evening.
"I was very proud of our guys for keeping their composure and getting the win against a tough Crivitz team," Patriots coach Paul Whitt said.
The Patriots trailed 16-6 in the contest but grabbed a lead by halftime.
"We started really slow," Whitt said. "But our guys started playing defense and running. That was big for us."
The Patriots' lead grew to as high as nine in the third quarter, but Crivitz answered and tied the game late.
Roman Grebin put in the go-ahead basket for Goodman-Pembine and then added a pair of free throws to seal it with 13 seconds left.
"He made some big plays down the stretch," Whitt said.
Grebin finished with eight points, as did Alex Whitt. Trent Heath and Randall Bose each scored four.
"Trent Heath played a great game for us as well," Whitt said. "I know the stats don't show a lot of points, but he handled the pressure, made assists and grabbed a lot of key rebounds.
"We also got a big night out of Brennan. He really placed his best game of this early season."
The Patriots (2-1) open Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday at Florence.
