EDITOR:
I never believed that gender favoritism was still present in our judicial system until I got exposed to it first hand.
A man that doesn't pay child support and is charged with a felony is given a severe jail sentence and on a second offense is usually sentenced to prison. Recently a woman already convicted of felony non-payment child support was offered a 9 month plea deal on a second offense. I find this to be completely unfair and I am outraged by it.
Any person that does not pay their child support and shows a complete lack of concern deserves to be sitting a lengthy amount of time in jail/prison.
When did it become OK or accepted for there to be a double standard in our judicial system. When a man and a woman are held to a different standard. The legal system should not see a man or woman but a person guilty of a crime.
