NEGAUNEE - No one was injured after a vehicle struck a utility pole and utility lines fell onto the roadway this morning.

Troopers from the Neguanee Post came across a property damage crash that took place north of Grimes Road on M-35 in Negaunee Township at approximately 7:10 a.m. Monday.

Police said the driver of a southbound passenger vehicle lost control on the icy roadway and struck a utility pole. The utility pole broke off and the utility lines fell onto the traveled portion of the roadway.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Police said the driver was cited for violation of basic speed law (too fast).

M-35 was closed between the intersections of M-35 and Grimes Road and M-35 and County Road 470 until the utility pole could be replaced.

Michigan Department of Transportation and Board of Light and Power assisted at the scene.
