IRON RIVER - Vada J. Kostreva, 82, of Iron River, was called to the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Northstar Health System, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Gibbs City, the daughter of the late Joseph and Santa Ponozzo. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1948. She later attended CNA School and Realtor School. Vada was employed as a realtor by Century 21 and Riverland Real Estate for many years, retiring in 2005.
Vada was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and going to the casino. She especially loved her dog, Cooter.
She is survived by her son, Sonny (Lynn) Kostreva of Menominee; daughters, Reinelle (Charles) Dennis of Iron River, Joan (Bill) Whettam of Green Bay, Wis., and Jane (Ken) Maki of Iron River; brother, Harvey (Elna) Ponozzo of Iron River; sister, Diane Ponozzo of Burbank, Ill.; grandchildren, Renee Studebaker (Bill Bialek), Andrea (Jeff) King, Addie (Matt) Waterstradt, Rick Christensen (Jessica Aho), Stephen (Rachel) Popp, Eric (Nikki) Popp, Ashley (Jeremiah) Haile, LaRae Kostreva, and Jason (Deb) Fish; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Kostreva; brothers, Rudolph and Leonard; sisters, Esther and Daisy; and nephew, Harvey Ponozzo.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
